In short, Sellfy is an ecommerce platform for selling both digital and physical products from one storefront. In addition, Sellfy allows for the sale of print-on-demand products and subscriptions. It caters to creators ranging from musicians to artists, and videographers to general online stores, allowing you to sell multiple product types from one store, instead of working with other ecommerce platforms that typically require you to integrate with multiple plugins, apps, or add-ons to sell several product types on one store. Having said that, Sellfy does work with Zapier, so you can integrate with hundreds of other tools if you want.
Therefore, Sellfy functions in two ways: as a standalone storefront where you build a store, list products, and connect with customers through a Sellfy website, and as a website embedder where you add a Buy Now button to any previously created website. For instance, you may have a WordPress blog but eventually want to sell products to your fans. In that case, there’s no reason to have multiple websites, since the Sellfy website embed feature lets you add online store functionality to the WordPress site.
Sellfy Review: Pros and Cons
As with all ecommerce platforms, Sellfy has its benefits and downsides. Luckily, Sellfy has far more pros than cons.

- The print-on-demand tools are built into your store, so you can upload designs and sell merchandise to fans without any integrations.
- You can manage stores from a mobile app, and all online stores have mobile responsive designs.
- Everything is included for making a website, like custom domain support, hosting, file security, and a store customizer.
- The file security features offer ways to protect your digital property, with options like PDF stamps, download limits, and SSL encryption.
- It has a language localizer so that all transactions get converted into the customer’s preferred currency.
- Sellfy offers support for an unlimited number of products.

Sellfy packs essential features into a relatively simple, neat dashboard. The features seem to be catered most to small businesses and creators, but it’s not unthinkable that a larger, growing ecommerce store could benefit from this type of consolidation of product selling.
But what are the standout features that make Sellfy so desirable for these types of businesses? Take a look at the best Sellfy features below.
Online Store Builder and Embeddable Buy Now Buttons
We have mentioned and will continue to mention, how Sellfy offers several ways to list products online. The first method is by using the Sellfy online store builder, which helps you build an online store from basic templates, add a domain name, insert a logo, and choose your colors. This functions as a standalone website for selling products, and you can pair it with whatever other sales channels you desire.
Other beneficial aspects of the store builder include a built-in shopping cart, store language translations, mobile optimization, and various modules for you to customize the layout of the shop. Although these settings are rather simple compared to other page builders on the market, it makes for a fast, intuitive design process, while still providing options for branding.
The second way to sell online is by adding products to Sellfy and generating Buy Now buttons to embed elsewhere. As an example, you put Buy Now buttons on your previously created Wix, WordPress, or Squarespace sites. It’s also possible to embed the buttons on social media platforms, allowing you to sell wherever you reach your customers and fans.
There are also some alternative versions of the Buy Now button such as a YouTube end screen or card that prompts people to purchase items at the end of your videos, or product links that you can send out through email or post on social media. Along with store embeds and product cards, you should always have the right type of Buy Now module to integrate with your platform.
Sell Digital, Physical, Subscription, and Print-on-demand Products from One Store
The primary selling point behind Sellfy is its features that allow for the selling of several product types from one storefront. On other ecommerce platforms, you often have to install a plugin to sell subscriptions or print-on-demand items. The same is also sometimes true for digital products. Not to mention, subscriptions generally require extra payments or specialty platforms to make it all work.
That’s not the case with Sellfy. All four of those product types are available within the dashboard for you to list side-by-side on one product collection.
As a bonus, Sellfy lets you list products as freebies as well.
The digital product page builder offers options to upload multiple file types and include secure email systems to deliver the content to customers. For instance, you could upload anything from a PSD to a music or video file and still sell it to fans. Printing on demand is possible as well, seeing as how Sellfy lets you upload product designs and sell them on your store. In addition, Sellfy prints the products and sends them to customers for you, eliminating the need for a third-party printing company.
Physical products are straightforward with the usual pricing, title, and description fields.
However, subscriptions and video streaming sales were rather impressive during our Sellfy review. The subscriptions are limited to digital products where you charge fans on a regular basis. You can then send content to them or simply use it as a paywall for certain content you have on your site. The video streaming system works in a similar way where you can sell videos on-demand or charge a subscription fee to see everything.
Built-in Marketing Tools with No Need for Integrations
The ecommerce platform world has leaned toward rich app stores, where you must piece together multiple subscriptions and plugins. That’s not necessarily a bad thing, but it’s wonderful when we see platforms that try their best to include the essential tools for selling, marketing, and payment processing without forcing customers to install and pay for other plugins.
That’s how Sellfy handles most of its marketing potential, considering all users receive tools for upselling, discount codes, tracking pixels, and email marketing right in the dashboard.
The discount codes are simple enough, where you generate a percentage or dollar amount off of the original price. It also allows for restrictions or limits when you run the codes. The upselling lets store owners present other products to customers as they move through the checkout module.
Tracking pixels are essential for running Facebook and Twitter ads that lead to your store. After that, the tracking pixels tell you about the performance of those ads and which ones to continue using in the future. Combine that with Google Analytics for the perfect match.
Finally, email marketing was the best part of the marketing tools during our Sellfy review. It’s common for ecommerce platforms like Shopify to require a third-party integration, but the Sellfy platform cuts out the middleman by offering its own email collection system, along with a campaign creator for sending out newsletters and promotional emails to customers. You can send out product updates to customers on your list, collect email addresses from everyone who shops, and instantly add product links to those emails, saving you a significant amount of time in the design process.
Fast, Reliable Payments
Reliability is essential for payment processing, so it’s great to see that Sellfy utilizes Stripe and PayPal as their primary options for collecting payments. Small business owners, entrepreneurs, bloggers, and creators have the option to activate both on their stores, or they could decide to only accept payments through one of them.
We’d recommend turning on Stripe for the most efficient credit card processing, then activating PayPal for customers who want to pay with their PayPal balances. That opens up more payment method options for customers when they come to your site.
Adding to these benefits, Sellfy significantly stands out from the competition by charging no transaction fees (for all plans) and by not getting in the way of your payments like so many other payment gateways and ecommerce platforms tend to do. In short, you should see money drop into your account right after someone buys a product. Other platforms are known for their 2-3 day wait times, sometimes more.
Content Security Measures
One of the worst parts for creators selling content online is that it’s so easy to steal that content. You may post a video and notice it given away for free on another site. Or you might start seeing your photos, music, or eBooks circulating elsewhere on the internet. This is obviously theft, but it’s hard to track down the offenders, especially once too many people have shared your content.
There are also other types of fraud and gaming of the system like those who try to download multiple digital products and share them with other people.
Luckily, our Sellfy review showed several safeguards for all of these. They’re not perfect features that will completely prevent theft or fraud, but they give you far more control over your content and how it gets used by customers.
To begin, you shouldn’t have to worry about security problems when processing payments, seeing as how both PayPal and Stripe have plenty of their own security measures in place. Sellfy is also PCI compliant so that all buyer payment information is safe throughout the process.
For content protection, Sellfy offers a PDF stamping tool so that the buyer's email address gets placed on every page of a PDF. This way, you know who leaked a file if it ends up somewhere else.
Furthermore, our Sellfy review shows an option to limit the number of downloads for digital files. This makes a unique download link for every person who purchases your files. It’s impossible to share that link with anyone else, and there’s a way to add a maximum number of downloads for that link. So, for example, you may want to give buyers a handful of downloads just for their own sake, but after that, it all gets blocked since they’ve already taken advantage of the content you gave them.
Sellfy Review: Pricing
All Sellfy pricing plans include the following:

Our Sellfy review uncovered four pricing plans, all of which you can pay on a yearly or monthly basis; the yearly packages are cheaper in the long run, generally cutting the monthly price by over 30%.
Here’s what to expect in terms of pricing and features in those plans:
- Free: $0 per month to sell up to 10 print-on-demand or physical products. This plan doesn’t allow for digital or subscriber product sales. The free plan also includes full store customization, a sellfy.store domain, advanced tax and VAT settings, and discount codes.
- Starter: Starting at $19 per month ($29 if you don’t opt for the yearly plan) for up to $10,000 in yearly sales, unlimited products, and support for print-on-demand, physical, digital, and subscription products. Everything in the previous plan is included, as well as the ability to add your own custom domain, send emails with 2,000 credits (per month), and add an email contact migration.
- Business: Starting at $49 per month ($79 per month without the yearly plan) for up to $50k in yearly sales, everything from the previous plan, 10,000 email credits, the removal of Sellfy branding, cart abandonment tools, and product upselling.
- Premium: Starting at $99 per month ($159 per month without the yearly plan) for up to $200k in yearly sales, everything from the previous plans, 50,000 email credits, and priority customer support.
Here are some other highlights and things to remember about Sellfy pricing:
- A 14-day free trial is available without any credit card required.
- Sellfy never charges any transaction fees, even for the Free plan.
- Yearly transaction volume typically dictates which plan you must use. In other words, the more you sell, the higher plan you need to choose.
- You still have to pay standard payment processing fees for processors like PayPal and Stripe. These usually remain around 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction.
- A website isn’t necessary to use Sellfy. You can either build a site with Sellfy or embed Buy Now buttons on social media sites. Or, you could make a site with a completely different content management system and implement the Buy Now buttons.
- Credits are required to use the email marketing feature in Sellfy. You get a certain number of credits with Business and Premium plans; after that, you must pay for extra credits.
Sellfy print on demand allows you to sell custom clothing, home decor, accessories, and more along with your own physical and digital products. You can do it all within your Sellfy store, accessing the same analytical tools, promotional options, and easy set up features along the way.
To access the functionality, go into the Sellfy POD environment and click on the product you want to sell. Sellfy’s POD comes with a range of high-quality products to choose from, including t-shirts, hoodies, tank tops, sweatshirts, phone cases, and many others.
To get started, you just need to go into the Products section on your store’s dashboard and select the “Print on Demand” option. POD will allow you to add as many products as you like to your store, and the service will keep track of your options for you.
Sellfy is also planning on expanding its product selection in the future, so you might find that you can add a wider range of products going forward too.
To make the most of Sellfy’s POD, you can also access a simple product editor which allows you to change your designs and add custom elements. You can:
- Change the color of the product
- Upload custom graphics and logos
- Edit and position graphics on the item
- Preview products in high-quality images
- Add text for a quote
After you’ve created your product, you can simply receive orders, and Sellfy will handle the rest for you. Each time you get an order, it’s automatically sent to production with Sellfy then shipped to customers worldwide. You can also follow the process via a tracking link.
There’s no extra fee for using Sellfy POD, as its included as part of all plans. You’re only charged after your customer orders something from you. This means that your customer pays you the retail price for the product before you pay anything. You get to choose how much you earn by setting your own profit margins.
Sellfy Embed Options
Aside from giving you the opportunity to set up a store directly on the Sellfy platform, Sellfy also offers a range of embed options so you can increase your visibility and promote your business that way. With Sellfy, you can use a business website you already have, and add “buy now” buttons to the site. There’s also the option to embed your entire Sellfy store in a site, or just embed certain products you want to sell.
Sellfy allows you to link your account to your Facebook page, so you can also embed your store into your social media services. You can use Sellfy on end-screens and cards within YouTube videos too. It’s a very versatile way to start selling online.
Sellfy Review: Customer Support
Customer support comes in many forms from Sellfy. To begin, we can look at the pricing plans to understand that the email contact migration is, in itself, a type of customer support. You get that with the Starter plan, which expedites your contact management process. We also like the fact that Sellfy never acts as a middleman between you and your payments. That means every payment you receive gets immediately dropped into your merchant account without any delays.
We also noticed that Sellfy offers priority support in its Premium plan. It appears that priority support simply means that you get bumped to the front of the line whenever you have a question. All of the same customer support methods are available; you’re just given slightly better service as a Premium customer.
We can also look at the types of customer support in terms of direct contact options and online resources.
For direct contact options, Sellfy has an email form and chatbox. The chatbox isn’t any different from the email form; it’s in a more accessible location but all of the messages get placed in the ticketed email queue. It’s nice that you can upload a file to the contact form to illustrate what’s going on with your store.
There’s no phone support, but that’s not all that common with commerce platforms to begin with.
As for online support resources, Sellfy provides a Help Center for searching documentation and browsing through different articles about getting started with your store, adding products, payment collections, and more. They’re rather detailed but straightforward. We also enjoy how the documentation from Sellfy includes visual aids and screenshots, whereas many ecommerce platforms stick to text articles without images.
The company also provides a helpful blog that covers tips and tricks, success stories, and product updates. The Sellfy University category on the blog comes in handy for learning about everything from marketing ideas to promotion strategies and product launch plans to social media selling.
Another interesting part of the Sellfy resources is the YouTube Money Calculator, which assists in discovering the potential for making money through YouTube add revenue and selling your products through YouTube.
Finally, our Sellfy review showed us that the company manages social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram, allowing you to either reach out to the support team there or learn more from their posts.
A Sellfy Review on How to Set Up a Store
The Sellfy configuration process works in three steps:
- Setup a store
- Sell anywhere
- Grow sales
We’ll walk you through those three steps below, allowing you to launch a store for your creator business, sell on any platform you want, and market the store with multiple outreach features.
To get started selling on Sellfy, go to Sellfy.com and click on one of the Start Free Trial buttons. Don’t worry, there’s no need to input credit card information.
Next up, type in your First Name and Email Address, then create a Password. Click on the Create My Store button to proceed.
The next step is to specify what you plan on achieving with your store.
For instance, you can categorize your store based on the industry. There’s also a field for naming the store and setting a temporary domain name.
Most importantly, you can specify whether you’d like to create a Sellfy storefront or embed the Sellfy checkout on your current website. Regardless of your decision, you’ll still be able to utilize both options when you get to the dashboard.
Finally, approximate the size of your audience then click on the Next button.
This brings you directly to the Sellfy dashboard, which includes tabs for Products, Customers, Orders, Marketing, and more.
The Get Started Guide in the center of the page is your best bet for quickly launching a store, as it has steps on what needs setting up.
Begin with the tab to Add Your Product.
You can choose between several product types when creating a new product in Sellfy.
Some options include:
- Digital goods
- Print on demand
- Physical products
Select the one you want to create right now. For this tutorial we’ll go with the Digital Product option.
All product types have their unique settings, but the general product building elements are the same.
The digital product page has, for example, fields to name the product, add a description, set the product category, and upload the digital file.
It’s also wise to upload an image of your product, even if it’s a digital file product. You could opt for an album cover for music, a book cover for an eBook, or really any digital cover asset to show people what to expect from the digital product.
After that, set your price, consider any product variants you may have, and move on to the Save Product button.
Make sure the product is visible in your store, and click on the Save Product button.
The next order of business is to decide if you’d like to simply use the product page added to your Sellfy store or to embed a Buy Now button for the product on another website or social site. The Buy Now button is accessible in the lower part of the Share Your Product popup, where you copy the embed code and paste it into the site of your choice.
Otherwise, in the next steps, we’ll show you how to view and manage the Sellfy store.
Jumping back to the main dashboard, you’ll notice a View My Store button in the upper right-hand corner.
Click that button to see the frontend of your Sellfy website.
Sellfy provides a simple online store template for you to get started. There’s an area to add a logo, adjust a hero banner, and show your products. This is the frontend view of your site, but there is plenty of customizing to complete.
Back in the dashboard, choose the Customize Your Store tab to open the website customizer.
The customizer offers various visual editing tools, with options to upload a logo, change the navigation, and create new pages.
You can even add other modules to make for a more creative, branded design. We also recommend modifying colors, typography, and background settings to make the online store more suitable for your business.
After some edits, we can now go to the online store to view our new product page.
As you can see, the product page has everything we typed in from before including the product name, description, price, and image.
When a customer wants to purchase the digital item, all they have to do is click on the Add To Cart button.
That sends the customer to the checkout area, where they type in the payment information to complete the purchase.
However, you’ll notice that the checkout button is blanked out right now; that’s because we haven’t configured the payment processing yet.
To activate a payment processor, go back to the dashboard, then click on Activate Checkout > Enable Payments.
We found two ways to collect payments during our Sellfy review: via Stripe or PayPal.
Both are great for accepting credit cards, debit cards, and other payment methods. We tend to recommend Stripe for a wider array of payment methods, but PayPal is useful as well. As an alternative, you could activate both of them to give people the ability to pay through credit cards and their PayPal balances.
Now that your online store is stocked with a few products, and you’ve customized the store to your liking, it’s time to market your business and prompt customers to buy more whenever they come to your site.
We found during our Sellfy review that this is all done in the Marketing section.
Go to Marketing > Marketing Features in the dashboard to reveal a list of marketing features like email marketing, coupons, discounts, cart abandonment, and upselling.
All of these are excellent tools for marketing your store, especially the email marketing functionality.
Here, you can create campaigns right from the Sellfy dashboard, send out emails using credits, and take advantage of prebuilt email templates so that you don’t have to write much on your own.
Another example in the marketing area is for coupons and discounts. Making a coupon, for instance, offers fields for naming the coupon, setting a coupon code, and deciding upon which type of discount to offer. You may want to hold a percentage off promotion or simply take a certain dollar amount off of the list price. Once that coupon is active you can market that to customers so that they can type the coupon code into the checkout area.
A Conclusion on Our Sellfy Review
And that’s all there is to it!
As you can see, Sellfy is rather intuitive when it comes to making an online store. Not only that, but it allows for the selling of multiple product types such as print-on-demand items, subscriptions, digital, and physical products, making it an excellent ecommerce solution for creators, or any business that struggles with other ecommerce software limitations. After all, we’ve noticed quite often that you typically have to install multiple plugins to sell both digital and physical products on competing ecommerce platforms. That’s especially true once you start trying to sell subscriptions and print-on-demand products.
Other than that, we feel Sellfy is a wonderful all-around platform for either building a simple online store or implementing Buy Now buttons on a current website. And it’s quite the bonus that you don’t have to worry about high monthly fees, hidden fees, transaction fees, or slow payout times.
