Ever thought about selling shower curtains with your original design printed on them?

How about coffee mugs with inside office jokes? Or statement phone cases?

These custom products are sold all over the internet, but the good news is that there's always room for more creativity.

After all, your ideas are going to be completely unique, allowing you to make money on your best designs.

The main problems you'll encounter involve fulfilment, billing, designing, and sourcing. Luckily, Printify takes care of all of these.

What is Printify Print on Demand?

printify reviews - homepage

Printify is a comprehensive print-on-demand service, designed to let business owners make custom designs that they can place on t-shirts, hoodies, and other products. If you want to run a creative eCommerce site with the convenience of dropshipping, Printify can help.

Unlike traditional garment and printing shops, Printify doesn’t print in bulk – they only build products when they’ve sold, and they handle the fulfilment on their end – so you don’t have to. Companies like Printify can offer you basic items like hoodies and t-shirts, but they also provide a range of non-clothing products too.

Options range all the way from clothing and t-shirts, to shoes, and accessories, jewelry, stationary, and even home décor options. There’s also a mockup generator that allows you to see what products might look like in a range of colors and sizes before you begin selling them.

Here's How Printify Works

The goal behind printing a unique design is to make money. However, your margins are cut down when you're required to source and fulfil the products yourself. But with Printify these problems are removed from the equation.

So, how does it work?

It's a four-step process.

  1. Choose which type of product you'd like to sell. For example, you might want to sell mugs or phone cases or t-shirts. These are the raw items you'll use to place your designs on.
  2. Create a design and place it on the product. Printify has design tools, so you can upload images, designs, logos and more. You basically just drop the design onto the product, then adjust things like size and whether or not you'd like something on the back of the product.
  3. Pick a provider. You'll often have multiple options when it comes to suppliers, and they let you request samples before you start selling products on your own site.
  4. Place the product on your site. Use the WooCommerce, Shopify, and Etsy integrations to speed up the process.
  5. Make a sale. Sit back and relax while Printify completes this entire step for you. This includes order fulfillment, manufacturing requests, billing, and shipping.

Therefore, you might pay, let's say, $12 for a t-shirt with your custom design on it. Then, you list the shirt for $30 on your own website. The fulfilment is all taken care of by Printify, so there are no extra charges involved in this process. Once the shirt is sold at the $30 price point, you make the difference of $18.

Nifty, huh?

Design a Wide Range of Products from High-Quality Print Providers

I've reviewed similar printing and fulfilment products like this before, but something stood out when I walked through Printify. Not only does the company cover all aspects of fulfilment for you, they also deliver on high-quality suppliers.

In fact, most of the options I see are located in the United States. You get lots of detailed information on the suppliers before you make a decision, and you can get samples of your products without any pushback.

Okay, so to start off, I went to the product selection page. On the left-hand side, it lets you filter through certain products like t-shirts, v-necks, tank tops, hoodies, laptop sleeves, bags, home decor, wall decals, and more.

The selection here is pretty impressive. I picked the Bags category and saw options for budget tote, AOP tote, school, and shoulder tote bags. You also don't have to settle for boring cotton t-shirts. The suppliers offer extremely specific product designs, with different materials, colors, sleeve cuts, and more.

After completing your product decision, it's time to see which print providers are available. For this, I'm looking at providers for regular white t-shirts. Printify reveals an incredible amount of information, like the minimum price you'll have to pay, average production time, and which areas of the shirt the provider will print on.

For instance:

One of the providers only supports back and front printing, while another will print on the neck and sleeve. You'll also see which sizes each provider can supply, along with the base colors. So, it all depends on your research of these providers, but Printify makes it pretty easy to make such comparisons.

For example, I only need to print a design on the front of my t-shirt, so paying the higher price to ArtGun doesn't make much sense to me.

However, I like the decent pricing from The Dream Junction, and the wide range of colors helps out as well.

After finding a good printing provider, you can go into the design modules to upload a photo or logo. This is a pretty simple design tool where the majority of your design work will be in something like Photoshop, prior to working in Printify. But you can always change views, zoom in, and add something to other locations on the product.

printify product

One of the best parts about Printify is that it integrates directly into your online store. There's a Printify WordPress Plugin for those running WooCommerce shops, along with a Printify Shopify app for those on Shopify.

After your design is complete, you'll be able to see some mockups and set a description and price. Therefore, the product description and price will automatically drop into your online store without you having to manually do it.

As an example, the following screenshot lets you adjust the pricing for certain shirt sizes. Printify even has a calculation of how much profit you can expect from each sale.

The WooCommerce integration is pretty simple, seeing as how you only need to click on the button that applies to you. Printify has the Shopify and WooCommerce Connect buttons ready for you in your dashboard.

The average user is going to have absolutely no problem figuring out how to coonnect Pritify with Shopify or WooCommerce. Printify has done a wonderful job of expediting the integration process.

Printify Review: Pricing

printify pricing

There’s no such thing as a business you can run without any expense whatsoever. However, Printify makes it very easy and affordable to get started. There aren’t any hidden fees to worry about, and no commission that you need to pay for each transaction.

Instead, you can use all the functionality of Printify for free, if you want to, and you only pay for the materials and items that you need when your product sells. This means that your profit completely depends on the sales price, minus the total cost of shipping and printing.

To ensure that you make a profit from every sale, you’ll need to keep track of the cost of the items that you’re putting on your POD website, as well as the price you’re going to pay for various shipping times to different locations. You then charge a price for your products that will allow you to access some kind of profit.

There are three kinds of pricing plan available from Printify, starting with the free option. If you’re starting an online business in POD, then you can start with the free plan which gives you access to unlimited product designs, and 5 stores per account.

There’s the mockup generator included with the free plan, as well as manual order creation, Shopify, eBay, and Etsy integration, 24/7 merchant support, self-serve help center. Other options include:

  • Premium: $29 per month for 10 stores per account, up to 20% discount on all products, unlimited product designs, and all the features of the free service.
  • Enterprise: If you have more than 10,000 orders per day, you can get a custom-priced enterprise account from Printify that supports unlimited stores per account, unlimited product designs, and up to 20% discounts on all orders. There’s also all the features of the Premium plan, and you get a dedicated account manager, and custom support.

This means that the essential features of Printify are free to use, but you can get extra benefits like product discounts and premium support if you’re willing to pay for a monthly subscription.

Printify Review: Ease of Use & Integrations

Printify’s user-friendly and straightforward website makes creating products to sell extremely easy. It couldn’t be simpler to get your designs ready to share with the world, particularly with the handy mockup generator available. Because Printify handles the shipping, billing, and order fulfilment, the designer doesn’t need to invest in a lot of inventory or materials.

Printify can even help you find the designers you need to create beautiful designs for your products, there’s a network on-hand, and you can even search for your own designers in your own time.

To make life even easier, Printify will also integrate with the eCommerce platforms that you’re already using. There’s a dedicated app for Shopify, WooCommerce, and Etsy.

How to Integrate Your Shopify Store with Printify

If you already have a Shopify store, then you can integrate it with Printify very easily. You’ll need to download the available “Printify” app for your Shopify store in the Shopify marketplace. Then, sign into your Printify account, or create one if you don’t have an existing account.

Once you’ve done this, the designs you make on Printify sync to your Shopify account automatically. This is very convenient, and it can save you a lot of time if you have a store on a supported platform already.

For platforms that aren’t integrated, you’ll need to create listings manually for each product you create on Printify. It can be a bit of a time-consuming process, but it’s still reasonably easy. Once you have Printify and Shopify connected.

  • Access Printify’s free mockup generator to create custom products, like stickers, hoodies, sweatshirts, leggings, and various other products.
  • Set your shipping rates, fulfillment services, and anything else you need to keep your Shopify store running.
  • Set up notifications for incoming orders, and you’ll get alerts automatically from Shopify when you receive an order. These orders go through to Printify for fulfilment.
  • Work on developing your brand image with marketing and great customer service. Remember that you still need to support your clients, even if Printify is dealing with shipping for you.

Printify Review: Customer Support

Printify makes it reasonably easy to get in touch if you have any concerns about how your store is working, or how you’re creating products. There’s a contact form on the website which you can fill out if you have a question, or you can get in touch via the email address.

There’s also the option to reach out to Printify on one of the several social media platforms it uses, which might be a good choice if you want to get a response as quickly as possible, as Printify’s team should respond to social messages quite fast.

For those who don’t like using social media or contact forms, there’s also the option to try and solve your issue for yourself. Printify has an immersive help center where you can find the answers to various questions about ordering, production, shipping, connections with Amazon, and so much more.

If you’re in the US, Canada, or one of the many other locations that Printify supports, then you shouldn’t have too much trouble getting help with your on demand dropshipping.

Alternatives to Printify

Printify is an excellent print on demand service for companies of all sizes. You can create everything from stickers to hoodies with excellent print quality and quick shipping in the USA. There’s even the option to integrate with eBay and Shopify and enhance your designs with neck labels and other added extras. Plus, with an API functionality, adding Printify to your eCommerce store is simple.

However, if the free and premium plan options from Printify don’t appeal to you, then there are other alternatives available, such as:

Printify vs Printful

printful - printify review

Most of the time, when business leaders make a choice between two Print on Demand tool, the decision is between Printify and Printful. Printful is a powerful choice for sending products around the globe. The company doesn’t outsource fulfilment and printing to third parties, so you know exactly who you’re working with.

Printful can provide direct to garment and sublimation printing, while Printify doesn’t offer the same variety. There’s also the fact that Printify isn’t as quick at international delivery to consider. Long distance shipping from Printify can take up to a month.

Printify can keep your products in a warehouse, however, where Printful won’t. Additionally, both tools can offer a wide range of integrations, a convenient back-end environment, and a handy mockup generator.

Printify vs. Sellfy

sellfy - printify review

Whereas Printify is first and foremost a print-on-demand dropshipping platform, Sellfy expands into other categories. Sellfy‘s also a full-fledged eCommerce platform that allows users to sell physical and digital products. Its print-on-demand functionality is just one of the many tools that make it easy for users to build a store, select products and start selling online.

That said, Sellfy focuses on many things at once, and it shows. Compared to Printify, it has much fewer print-on-demand items to choose from. Sellfy only offers clothing, posters, phone cases, and bags. In comparison, Printify also proffers household items, office supplies, and kitchen accessories on top of a much wider range of apparel products.

Also, Sellfy’s free plan limits you to only ten products on your Sellfy store. You only unlock unlimited products when you opt in to the Starter Plan for $19 per month. In contrast, Printify better enables you to populate an existing store with print-on-demand merchandise. It doesn’t cost anything to add as many products as you want to five stores. Upgrading to a Printify premium plan entitles you to perks like product discounts and custom order import.

Printify vs Print Aura

Customers not interested in the features available from Printify might consider Print Aura instead. This white-label solution allows customers to create their own site, just like you would on Wix and other channels. You can create clothing to highlight your brand, and get some of the best print quality around. There’s the option to create all kinds of merchandise beyond just t-shirts.

Like Printify, Print Aura ensures that you can send your products to customers in as few business days as possible. There are no extensive fees and enterprise plan options to worry about. You may notice that you order samples where the quality is a little hit and miss, however. With Print Aura, you don’t always get the best customer service either.

One point to note is that although you can get good quality products from Print Aura, you may need to spend more than you expect upfront. The Print Aura portfolio can be quite expensive for small companies on a budget who want to build their business fast.

Who Should Use Printify?

Building the ideal print on demand strategy for your business means choosing the right tools for growth. Unfortunately for many business leaders, this means making difficult choices, like Printful vs Printify, or whether you should use a service like Teelaunch.

For print on demand products, Printify is a reasonably reliable tool. You can generate a good profit margin with this company, since you don’t need to spend a fortune on monthly subscriptions. There’s also plenty of scope to scale your print on demand business at a pace that suits you. Adding new products and options to your portfolio is quick and simple.

The fact that Printify allows you to access a lot of customization options is great. Additionally, it’s worth remembering that you can work with a variety of shipping brands to ensure that you can get your products to your customers in the fastest possible time. Although, numerous shipping providers could mean that the quality of service is a bit inconsistent.

Printify definitely has the potential to generate some good margins for bigger companies and smaller brands alike. If you want to ensue that you get a great deal on your goods, then Printify can support virtually any budget. Additionally, the quality of the print on demand items are pretty good too. You can ensure that your business doesn’t just thrive with Printify, but grows relatively consistently too.

The best thing about Printify is that you only have to pay for premium packages if you want to. So you can go and experiment with the functionality for free and see how you feel before.

Printify Review: Is it Right for You?

Printify isn't an app that lets your own customers design products. Rather, it's for when you have a brilliant t-shirt or mug idea and would like to start selling it online. It's also for those who don't want to worry about fulfilment, considering Printify covers that step in its entirety.

I'd argue that Printify is by far the best solution you have when it comes to quickly getting your custom products online for sale. The only things you have to worry about are design and selling. Once the sale is made, Printify takes over for you.

Plus, compared to some other print on demand tools, Printify is impressively straightforward and flexible. Designing the items that you need for your brand product portfolio is easy with the mockup generator. Additionally, there are various integrations to help you get up and running with your sales as quickly as possible.

All of that, and Printify gives you pretty decent pricing too. Though there are premium plans available with monthly fees, you’re not required to pay for them. Compared to other tools on the market, it’s no wonder that Printify is a popular choice for print on demand leaders.

  4. Their UI is solid, but I like Printful’s better. Also there are more flexibility with Printful in terms of customization and branding

  5. Printify is the easiest to design and integrate as I have found. The only downsides are: No Hats, No Models. The shower curtains do have models, however the rest of their products do not, as yet. Printful I have found to be a little more time consuming setting every little detail.

  6. Thank you for this review. We are using Shopify with Printify integration. Fortunately, multiple platforms can integrate with Shopify if someone decides to do so.

  7. Various CMS tools are available to create E-commerce platform. But I would suggest creating custom own tool where you can add more features which are lacking in readymade tools.
